This PSR Tutorial Songs 2020 Collection includes 728 songs (in MP3 format) -- 39 hours of listening pleasure. 48 performers contributed to this song collection and 18 Yamaha keyboards are represented. All of these songs appeared on the PSR Tutorial web site in 2020. Eventually, all will be archived and no longer available online.
These songs can be played in your computer (Windows or Mac) as well as on many mobile devices (such as iPads and iPods). They also can be played on recent Yamaha arranger keyboards (Genos, Tyros5, Tyros4, PSR-SX900, PSR-S975, PSR-S970, PSR-S950, PSR-S910).
All songs have been normalized to a common volume level. This means that you do not have to continually adjust your speakers for songs that are too loud or too soft.
Filenames
All MP3 filenames reflect the name of the song. Appended to each song name are one or more codes indicating information about the performance.
- "_c" indicates that this is an original song.
- "_v" indicates the song includes a vocal.
- "-PPKK" provides a 2 (or 3) letter abbreviation for the performer and a 2-letter abbreviation for the keyboard. (See below for a table of performer and keyboard abbreviations.)
For example, the filename "Away In A Manger_v-MHT4.mp3" is the song Away In A Manger. The appended code (_v-MHT4) means the song includes a vocal by Mike Hackworth (MH) performed on the Tyros4 (T4). Similarly, "Christmas Epic_c-RVT4.mp3" is an original composition (_c) by Ryszard Bieszczad (RV) performed on his Tyros4 (T4).
Since these are MP3 files, they also can contain song information. For all songs, the "Contributing Artist" field holds the name of the performer.
Organization
Christmas Songs - 168 songs are drawn from the PSR Tutorial 2020 Christmas concert. These songs are in the "_Christmas" folder. 28 artists contributed to the Christmas concert. 15 "PSR Performers" and 13 members of the PSR Tutorial Forum participated in the Christmas concert. The Christmas songs take up 682 MB of storage and provide almost 8 hours of holiday music from around the world.
Other Songs - The remaining 560 songs are listed alphabetically in a series of alphabetical folders (A, B, C-D, ..., W-X-Y-Z). While a computer folder can easily handle hundreds of files, your Yamaha keyboard folders are more restricted. That is why, for convenience, these songs were organized into subfolders.
Documentation
The contents of the collection are detailed in several pdf files as well as a Microsoft Excel file found in the "_Docs" folder.
"Songs, by Filename” (available as a PDF file and a Microsoft Excel file) lists all the songs alphabetically by filename (which is the song title) along with the performing artist, the keyboard used and the length of the song. Note that the “Songs 2020 by Filename” pdf file is 20 pages when printed out. A separate “Christmas List” pdf file lists only the 168 Christmas songs in 5 pages.
“Songs 2020 by Performer” lists song information alphabetically by Performer. 35 "PSR Performers" contributed 691 songs to this collection. 13 Forum members participated in the 2020 Christmas concert and added 37 songs. Recent MP3 songs for the PSR Performers and any available midi files are on their PSR Performer page in the Performers section of the PSR Tutorial web site. A short musical biography and a picture of each Performer is also available on the Performer page. Performers not currently listed in the current Performer's section, are found in the Archived Performers section.
The table below lists the PSR Performers (shown in bold) who contributed to this collection. The other players listed contributed to the 2020 Christmas concert. The table shows the 2 or 3 letter abbreviation for that performer and the number of songs.

Using This Collection
Most PCs provide software to play MP3s. Double-clicking on any song is likely to launch that software and play the song. However, your PC may also include a music database program, such as iTunes, and all of the MP3s can be loaded into your music database program. Each song includes song data indicating the performer and the keyboard used.
