Characters looked fine in Mac, but were much thinner in PC versions of the various web browsers. Revised the Songs | Christmas section to have an initial page showing all the available Christmas songs in a table. Individual Jukebox pages for each year remain as before.

This is almost 1,000 new styles added to our style archives. Thank you, Onacimus! You can find all the new sets on the Onacimus style page. The 8000, 9000, and CVP210 are also on the PSR3000 page.
- 12/11 - 5,000 midi files added to the PSR Tutorial! Actually, we've had those midi files all here already, but they were in packaged zipped files except for the 500 "current" volumes of songs for the various PSR Performers. However, I have now moved the entire midi archive library online, over 4,900 files. Each of these can be accessed directly by looking in Songs | Midi Files, where all the songs are listed alphabetically. Any song can be played directly or downloaded individually. The tables there also show quite a bit of additional information including the song tempo, time signature, whether or not it includes lyrics, whether it uses chords, and what keyboard it was recorded on. The original performer and volume are also shown.

Additional sub-sections under "Songs" include an alphabetical list of all the midi files on the site, an alphabetical list of all the MP3 files on the site, the Yamaha midi files page and a separate section for the PSR Tutorial Christmas Jukeboxes with Christmas songs contributed by members. Links also added to Performer pages that would skip to the next performer using the current performer's keyboard.

All of the earlier volumes are now presented in table right below the current volume. Every 10 volumes are aggregated into a single zip file with 100 midi files. Each performer page includes the performer's song index of all that performer's songs, which can be sorted by name or by volume number or by keyboard.

October 2009
- 10/31 - After many years supporting the Yamaha community, Simon Williams is closing the SVP World web site tomorrow. With great sadness, the SVP links have been removed from the PSR Support and PSR Forums pages. He sent in his first half of a new volume and I converted the midi files to MP3s and set up a Jukebox on Alex's page. Enjoy the PSR-S910 and Alex.
- 10/30 - I am unveiling today the "new" version of the PSR
Tutorial. Everything is not completed yet, but enough has been done
to open up the finished sections to everyone. The update, so far, includes:
- The new site web pages have been developed on my Apple iMac using the latest version of Dreamweaver. Page code is much more streamlined and pages should load faster. For those of you technically inclined, html formatting codes have been removed from each page and formatting is now handled in separate CSS files.
- Utilities is a "new" major section. The contents have been expanded from what we had earlier. This will now be the new home of Michael Bedesem's utility programs, all of which can be downloaded from the PSR Tutorial. Many have been updated and the latest versions are here.
- A new CDROM section provides a more detailed look at the various PSR Tutorial CD-ROMs that are available to help support this site.
- In the Music section Fake books have been updated and expanded and provide users with links to both Amazon and Barnes & Noble pages for each book. The Fake book Song Index has been converted to the new format. Top Songs have been reformatted to make it easier to see many of the lists there. The Pro Clinic pages have been updated to the new format. The articles section has been split into two subsections: Articles and Projects. Each has its own table of contents and articles and projects shown on a full page. The Secrets of Chords is still being updated and will be reopened up when ready.
- The Styles section has been updated and streamlined. Under Yamaha, I have included only the style pages for each keyboard. Links to press releases are available from the Styles | Yamaha home page. Features and Specifications can be had at the main Yamaha site. I've eliminated many of the detailed tables that showed every individual style name in favor of simpler tables indicating the zip file name and the number of styles in it. With the many thousands of styles available, there is not as much interest in every single style name. I've also eliminated the Style List subsection.
- Performers have had only been partial reformatted so far. They, of course, had to be modified to include the new major navigation bar at the top of the page. I hope to further streamline and update the format of this section and it's pages in the future.
- The Lessons section, the one most in need or updating, has yet to be rebuilt. In fact, the Lessons home page is just a place holder until the new lessons are written. But it does hold the latest version of Michael Bedesem's Frequently Asked Questions, which have also just been updated. Additional changes will be added as the year goes on.
- The Forum is really a separate program that is hosted on the PSR Tutorial web site. It has its own home page and database for storing messages and attachments. The new Forum link simply opens the forum home page in its own window so you can have the PSR Tutorial site open at the same time you are viewing messages in the forum. The forum program is not affected by any of the changes in the main PSR Tutorial site.

Kind of Classic Christmas so I named it Classickerst ... Kerst is short for Kerstmis=Christmas. I used the Ethereal style from the T3 (Converted for T2) works fine on the PSR3000...! You'll find these styles on the PSR-9000 page; scroll down toward the bottom. onacimus is working on other style conversions for use in his PSR-740, which will make other 740 users very happy. Onacimus alerted me to the fact that the Swing&Jazz category in the original PSR-9000 styles was missing from the page. I have corrected that error and also added a zip file of the original piano styles. I doubled-checked those originals to make sure they were correct and also renamed all the files to reflect the actual style name (rather than the short abbreviated name). - 1/15 - Two new PSR Performers are introduced today. Johannes "John" Vishnoff, the first PSR Tutorial "graduate", is from Columbia and he sends us his first volume. Although he claims no formal musical training, his aptitude clearly shows through in this, his first, volume of songs. Our second new performer is Alan Paganelli. December 2004
- 12/30 - New Alphabetical Song Index created, with a page for each letter of the alphabet. Link is found on the PSR Performers Home page. New indexes created for each PSR Performer. There is a link on each Performer's page to that Performer's song index. You can find Index for All the Performers from a link on the PSR Performers Home page. A new Arranger Artist Page is unveiled. It has links to a couple dozen arranger artists' web sites and a sample MP3 song from each. If you don't have a PSR, this is the page to check out. I've added an MP3 file to several Performer Pages: Phil Hall, Joe Waters, Warren Peters, and Ton Anthonie (who has just traded in his PSR9000 and PSR2000 for a new PSR3000). Phil's is actually a video he made back in 2003 when he was experimenting with his new digital camera and is a short tutorial as well. Although not specifically a PSR related link, I have added at the bottom of the main home page, a link to a short, but very large (57MB) video my son made of his flair routines. Joe Jr dreams of becoming a flair bartender. It is easily viewable if you have a high-speed connection. 12-20 - Chico Brazil sends in a new MP3, Tritesse, a simple ballad recorded on the PSR-3000 with the WorshipSlow style. Two new MP3s from Del Kay - Hey! and Help Me Make It Through the Night. Held first multi-user conference in the PSR Chat Room this evening. Attended by Joe, Gary, Ron, Bill, and Eddie. IT looks like the system works just fine and is ready for prime time.
- 12/19 - Alex Green has released his 17th volume, recorded on the PSR-3000.
- 12/17 - Julio Cazes was kind enough to send in his 7th and 8th volumes. Julio traded in his 740 for a 2000 some time ago. These are our first recordings of Julio on the PSR-2000. (Note: almost a year ago, Julio sent in Vol. 6. I had uploaded it, but had forgotten to update his performer page. I've corrected that error now, so be sure to check the earlier volumes and get Vol. 6 to complete your collection of Julio's songs.)
- 12/16 - Vol. 4 from Harry BrownRigg. I made a mistake with the volume uploaded on the 14th. It turns out that those songs were, in fact, songs recorded on the 740. The songs on this, Vol. 4, are the songs recorded on the 2100. Vince Andreone (Tyros) has sent in Vol. 5 along with a MP3 version of one of the songs. I have added a sample MP3 to several other PSR Performer pages: Julio Cazes (Granada) ; Richard Peck (It's A Small World) ; Joe Francis (Never on Sunday), and myself, Joe Waters (Stormy Weather). I also replaced the MP3 on Alex Green's page with a new one (Alabama Jubilee).
- 12/14 - Harry BrownRigg is back with his great music. Two years ago, Harry sent in a couple of volumes done on the 740. He then sold his 740 and played organ for a couple years. Now, Harry is back and has the PSR-2100. In fact, Harry's 3rd volume is our first PSR-2100 volume.

- 12/6 - Ton Anthonie sends in V20 & V21. Vol. 20 is available now. Look for vol. 21 by the weekend.
November 2004
- 11/20 - Leo Dunne has help for those Tyros singers who have encountered distortion in the vocal harmony. His article on "Tyros EQ Settings for Vocal Harmony Clarity" provides a solution. Once more, thanks to Alex Green for another excellent volume played on his PSR-3000.
- 11/16 - Ndl has sent in her Modern Xmas styles, which add 19 more styles to our Christmas styles collection. Gary Diamond sends in a couple of Christmas Registration files for the PSR-3000. Each file has the settings for 8 different Christmas songs.
- 11/8 - The Poet and Peasant Overture - Large MP3 from Chris Bell. This is the piece Chris talked about in the article posted on 11/5.
- 11/5 - Chris Bell provides us with his article on how to "Create Larger Arrangements Without Using Styles."

These are on one (of three) Korg style pages. "ndl", who makes a hobby of collecting, and tuning, complete sets also sent in his set of styles for the Roland VA7. These are now available on a new Roland VA7 page.
- 10/24 - 29 more Korg style conversions (Country) added to the Korg Page. Bob Durham provides an MFD based on PSR Performer style selections. It is done for PSR-2000 users but can be converted to versions for other keyboards. It is available on the Music Finder Database Files Page. I've compiled a detailed index of the songs and styles currently available on the PSR-Tutorial CD-ROM. This also provides a nice summary of the songs and styles available on this site. Renewal program announced for PSR Tutorial Charter Members. Details on the Charter Member Info Page. Chico sends in Vol. 6 which includes some songs recorded on his new PSR-3000.
- 10/19 - Del Kay releases his 33rd volume. 20 more KORG to Yamaha styles added.
- 10/16 - Two more sets of Korg to Yamaha style conversions. The second set is composed of Christmas styles. 119 new multipads from Leo Dunne are now available on the Multi Pad page. I've tested these on the 2100 and the 3000 and they sound great on both machines. New Lesson: "Building Your Own Multi Pads," by Leo Dunne.
- 10/14 - Thanks to Tom G, Roger Z, and Eileen Lowrey for a set of 20 style conversions from the Korg to the Yamaha. This set is labeled "Vol 1" so hopefully there will be more sets in the future.

- 10/10 - Alex Green has sent in another volume recorded on the PSR-3000, his 14th volume over all. Alex wonders where all the other 3000 owners are. Hopefully, we'll get more performers showing off their new keyboard. Bob Boyd likewise has sent in his 14th volume. Bob records on the PSR2000 and, fortunately for us, records all his styles so everyone can see what style was used.
- 10/3 - Revision and update of Links section. New Pages add for PSR Articles and PRO Links.
September 2004
- 9/29 - I'm pleased to announce the addition of a NEW PSR Performer - Dennis Hooker. Dennis, who is recording on his PSR-9000, joins the ranks of the PSR Performers with two initial volumes. Check them out and let Dennis know how you like his playing!

- 9/6 - Ton Anthonie sends in Vol. 19.
- 9/5 - John Traves sent in his library of Hammond organ voices. These were developed for the Tyros, but they sound terrific on the 3000 as well. Alex Green sent me his latest CD and I converted one of his songs, What a Difference a Day Makes, to an MP3 so you can hear Alex play his 3000 even if you don't have a PSR-3000. For those who have a PSR9000 or 8000 or 740 or earlier, Gary Diamond's Gig Disks have to have the OTS settings removed. I have, thanks to Michael Bedesem's midiplayer program, converted all of the Gary's gig disks to have a noOTS version as well as the OTS versions.
- 9/4 - Phil Hall's 6th volume of songs played on Tyros & PSR-2000. Bob Boyd's 13th volume of songs played on PSR-2000. Complete index of all songs in the PSR Performer Song Archives. August 2004
- 8/27 - The psrtutorial had exceed its allotted bandwidth (40GB/month) yesterday and the system was down for a day. I have arranged to upgrade my account to 80GB/month and we came back up today. This is three times as expensive, but the demand at the site has been growing and is likely to continue. Now we've got more room to expand. I've added some more information on the PSR-3000 with two pages that focus on the PSR-3000/1500 panel voices. The first deals with panel voices in general, including the distinctions made by Sweet! Live! and Cool! voices and the second pages shows you all the available voices, by voice category for both the PSR-3000 and PSR-1500.

The old Lessons page becomes the new PSR-2100/2000 home page. PSR-3000 Sound Demos page provides links to PSR-3000 MP3 sound demos and videos.

May 2004
- 5/31 - Well, believe it or not, I have finally finished updating the Lessons section. There are 95 pages in that section in 7 areas: Start Here ( for beginners who just got their keyboard); Quick Steps ( for those who 5/just want a quick outline of how to solve a task.); Exploring (covers the preset voices and styles that come with the PSR) ; File System (critical information for anyone who wants to work with PSR files); Personalizing (detailed lessons on how to personalize the keyboard and its styles or songs to your own preferences); Music Finder (complete coverage of the Music Finder system in the PSR), and, finally, Record (a few lessons for those who want to record a midi file or record directly to their PC for making their own CD). All lessons have been reviewed and revised as needed. Additional material has been added in several sections. The completion of the Lessons section now completes the move from Net Objects Fusion to Macromedia Dreamweaver. I can now start 'growing" the site as needed, just in time for the advent of the PSR-3000. Ton Anthonie sends in his 14th song volume. Del Kay adds another MP3 file - Embraceable You.
- 5/11 - I've managed to finish up the Swing&Jazz category in tuning PSR9000 styles for use with the PSR-2100. There are 16 styles in this batch (Swing2), although one is repeated with two differing OTS specifications.
- 5/6 - Bob Boyd adds his 11th volume of songs played on the PSR-2000. Scott Langholff's registration file could not be downloaded as a ".REG" file, so it was replaced with a "zipped" version which does download OK.
- 5/2 - In between revising all the lessons, I've been working on some style conversions. There are a total of 25 Swing & Jazz styles from the 9000. 10 of them are done now and I've added them to the PSR9000 page.
- 5/1 - Del Kay has added another MP3 file to his list: Love Me Like You Used To
April 2004
- 4/29 - Thanks to Gary Diamond for a new article explaining how to set the microphone vocal settings on your PSR-2x or Tyros keyboard.
- 4/18 - Del Kay sends in his 30th volume of songs! Scott Langholff, who has now moved on to a KN2600, sent us his favorite PSR-2000 registration file. I have started the conversion of the PSR9000 styles. 30 new styles (8BEAT), modified to work with the PSR-2100, are now available. - JW
- 4/14 - Thanks to Graham, UK, for sending in a new set of Tyros conversions for the PSR9000 and 9000Pro. Graham has both a Tyros and a 9000Pro so he was able to test out each conversion. Thank you, Graham.
- 4/3 - 4/10 - Joe's on VACATION!
March 2004
- 3/30 - Chico Brazil sends in Vol. 5, which includes songs by a couple of his students. Charley sends in Gem disks #11 and #12. Del Kay sends in another MP3: After the Lovin'
- 3/25 - Bruno Schettino has sent in his 29th volume. Gary Diamond releases his 8th Gig Disk.
- 3/22 - Chris Bell sends in his 7th and 8th volumes. They are available as a single download of Chris' Disk04.
- 3/21 - Inspired by a question on how to post on the forum, I finally buckled down and wrote up some notes on how to register for the PSR tutorial forum and how to read and post messages. I'm still in the middle of revising the "Lessons" section, so I put this forum "how to" in the Music/Songs section under articles.
- 3/19 - Del Kay adds his 29th volume. I also took this opportunity to revise Del's page and aggregate earlier "volumes" into "disks" each of which fits on a floppy disk and holds 25 songs.
- 3/16 - Charley has sent in Gems9 and Gems10 disks of PSR-2000 "tuned" styles.

February 2004
- 2/28 - Del Kay adds another MP3 file: Sixteen Candles.
- 2/26 - Yamaha Style Lists are included in the Yamaha manuals, but are often in small print and difficult to read. I have collected the style information for the latest Yamaha arranger workstations (and also the CVP-209 models), including the style name, default tempo, time signature, and file size (in Kb). Styles are listed by category in the order in which they are stored internally (at least I assume the manual listing is the same as the internal order.) You 5/notice that earlier models (PSR-740, 8000, 9000, 9000PRO) include a space in between parts of a style name (i.e. "Big Band Ballad") whereas later models (2000, Tyros, 2100, CVP) do not ("BigBandBallad").
- 2/25 - Too hot to work outside, Ton tells us, so he stayed in the cool indoors and created his 12th volume.
- 2/23 - Ton Anthonie sends in his 11th volume.
- 2/22 - New Article: "Floppy Drive Repair" by Bill Grosse. Here are detailed, step-by-step instructions, complete with plenty of photographic detail, explaining how to replace defective floppy disk drives.
- 2/20 - Bruno Schettino's 28th volume is released. I tuned up another batch of Roland styles. RGE6 tuned on the 2100 but, other than perhaps adjusting some OTS, should be OK on the 2000 as well. - JW
- 2/17 - Michael MacDonald joins the ranks of the PSR Performers with THREE initial volumes. Please welcome our newest performer!
- 2/16 - Del Kay releases his 28th volume of songs.
- 2/15 - Thanks to Bob Boyd for his 9th volume of songs on the PSR-2000.
- 2/9 - Ton Anthonie (performing on his PSR-9000) adds two more volumes to his collection - V9 and V10.
- 2/8 - Added three more "discussions" to the Pro Clinic: What is Jazz? Drink or Not at Gig? and Bring Significant Other along to Gig?
- 2/2 - Charley has sent in his 7th and 8th Gems disks with 30 styles on each.
- 2/1 - The PSR Links section is now revised and updated. It includes an updated Utilities pages and brand new pages for Midi Sites and for Lyrics Sites. The main PSR/Links home page provides a convenient quick link to many of the resources listed in this section. A separate page lists Yamaha Corporate sites and another lists other Yamaha support sites. The What's New page (and the two history pages) have been updated. The Mailing List page has been eliminated and the mailing list input form moved to the main home page. The PSR Models pages have been eliminated.

- 1/16 - Hal Eaton's 3rd volume is released.

- 12/16 - Scott Langholff has sent in a bunch of his Gig Disks. I've added the first two of them, with 36 songs/styles on each disk, to Scott's new Gig Disk Page. Larry Gard joins our PSR Performers group. Larry uses his PSR-2000 to create compositions for theatrical productions. I'm sure you'll find his first volume of all original compositions very interesting.
- 12/12 - Mike (aka Seekfinder from the Yahoo PSR Styles and Songs groups) downloaded a whole bunch of Christmas songs and revoiced them on his Tyros. You'll find Mike's collection on the Holiday Songs page.
- 12/10 - Del Kay sends in his 26th volume of songs.
- 12/8 - Jaap Poetsma adds volume 6 to his song collection.

- 11/24 - The final lesson in Duane Shin's 39-week course on "The Secrets of Chords and Chord Progressions" has been added to the series and, thus, concludes the course. If you haven't mastered everything, don't worry, it's still here and you can check the lessons at any time. (I've also added all of these lessons to the PSR Tutorial 2003 CD that is sent to Charter Members.) Donny Pesce sends in his version of a Christmas Gig disk.
- 11/23 - Will Stewart adds his 10th volume to his collection of wonderful songs.
- 11/22 - The Resources section has been completely updated. The new section, which is called "Music/Songs," has information relating, as the name suggests, to music and songs. It includes the Fake Book section, which was updated on Nov. 18. The remaining updated sections are listed below. The Fake Book Song Index as an index of 12,000 different songs, listed alphabetically, and the fake book in which they appear. The index is drawn from some 19,000 songs listed in 44 different fake books. Since there are so many songs, there is a page for each letter of the alphabet, that is, the songs that begin with "S" are listed on the "S" page. Articles - the, an, a - are ignored in the alphabetizing, that is, "The Sound of Music" would be listed with the "S" songs. An updated version of the print copy of this new 44-book song index is also available. This is a 138-page MS Word document that will give you a printed copy of the Fake Book Master Song Index. Scroll down to the bottom of the Book List page to find the Word document link. The Music Tips section has been redone dividing the information there into "Articles" and "Discussions". The "Secrets of Chords and Chord Progressions" has also been completely redone. Now that I have reworked that, I will be able to add the final lesson - Graduation Day. The main "Music/Songs" home page has links to each of these major components. If you are in any one section, say Fake Books, clicking on the "Music/Songs" link at the top of the page will take you back to that home page where you can choose another section in Music & Songs.
- 11/21 - Del Kay sends in another MP3 file: Ain't She Sweet.
- 11/19 - Hal Eaton sends in his 2nd volume of songs. Joe Maas releases a new version of OMB.

- 11/12 - The new "revised" PSR Files section is now complete. Hopefully, you will find it easy to navigate and find the files you are looking for. Another batch of Christmas style files was sent in by Charley. They can be found on the Miscellaneous Styles page as well as on a new Happy Holidays page. A new Happy Holidays page is introduced giving you a convenient access to all the Christmas styles and songs. I have added a Christmas disk I prepared two years ago when my PSR-2000 was new. I'd like to do one this year with the 2100, but I may not have time. Alex Green sends in his 9th volume which is, of course, a Christmas volume! In updating the Files section, I have added three versions of converted Tyros styles - the original conversions for the PSR-2000, a later set for the PSR-2100, and a set without OTS for the PSR-9000 and earlier PSRs. I have introduced the concept of a psrtutorial "Charter Subscriber." This is a way regular visitors can indicate their support for this site. There is an "ad" for Charter Subscribers at the bottom of each page in the File section. Instead of downloading all those files, a charter member can get them all, unzipped, on a CD of psrtutorial files in 2003.
- 11/9 - Del Kay sends in his 25th volume of songs.
- 11/6 - Bob Boyd sends in his 6th volume. Enjoy! New Lyrics Finder utility by Jørgen Sørensen.
- 11/2 - Bruno sends in his 25th volume. For this one, Bruno tried his hand at sequencing on the PSR-2000. I modified the PSR Performer Home page so that the most recently added volume would appear in the volume window when the mouse isn't over another performer's name. Just an experiment to see how that works out.
October 2003
- 10/30 - Ton Anthonie adds Vol. 7 to his collection. Ton has a 2000 and a 9000. These songs are all done on the 2000. He also provided four new songs to replace some duplicates uncovered when we made the song/style list and Volume 1 has been revised by replacing the four duplicates with four different songs.
- 10/29 - After two months of intensive learning and experimenting, I have finally completely redone one of the major sections of the site - the PSR Performers. These new pages are designed specifically for repeat visitors making it easy to quickly get to the performer's latest volume. In addition, an alphabetical list of each performer's songs, showing the song title, tempo, and style where available, can be easily viewed. These new features require IE 4.0 or better or Netscape 4.0 or better. For earlier versions, a "printable" version of each page is also provided. Two new PSR Performers are introduced in the revised section, both sending in their first volumes. Hal Eaton plays on the PSR-2000 while Robert Lauzon plays the new Tyros. Ton Anthonie also has released a new volume, his 6th. A new feature introduced with the new PSR Performer's pages, in the ability to download or play any of the 10 midi files in the performer's latest volume. If you have your PC hooked up to your PSR, you can instantly audition the most recent work of any of the performers. (If you listen through your PC, the songs will not sound as good as they would if you played then in the PSR.
