Includes almost 800 MP3 files (40 hours of music) added to the site in 2010. This collection and the previous 2009 collection include all of the MP3 files in the PSR Tutorial Archives as of 12/31/2010. ($15)

The full collection includes 6,800 files and requires 2.96 GB of disk space. The collection is not available for download and must be ordered with a USB drive.

There are 798 MP3 files in this collection drawn from songs added in 2010 and some earlier years and the Christmas 2010 Jukebox. I have also included all of the PSR Performer midi files through April of 2011, 5,545 midi files!

Since MP3 files are already compressed, zipping this collection does not save any space and so there is no download option available. You must order one of the available USB drives with this collection. It will fill up most of a 4GB drive. However, you could put two years of songs on an 8GB drive or all 4 years on a 16GB drive.

Web Interface. Like the "Songs" section on the web site, the interace to this material on this USB is via your web browser. Yes, there is the equivalent of an entire web site on the USB and you launch it all by simply double-clicking on the "index.html" file in the main root directory.

Four Sections. There are four major section on the USB: Performers, MP3 Index, Midi Index, and Christmas. Although similar to the web site, there are some differences. The MP3s from PSR Performers include all the songs that were added in 2010 and, for some performers, additional songs from previous years. There are 41 performer pages on the USB and each shows the short bio and picture as it does on the main site. Each performer page includes a jukebox with all of the performer songs in it (the main site only includes the 10 most recent songs). The jukebox plays automatically when you go to the Performer page. There is also an alphabetical index to all the MP3 songs for each performer where any of the individual songs can be auditioned separately. The performer pages do not include a listing of their midi files.

All Songs Indexed. The MP3s on this USB are located in individual Jukeboxes. However, all of these are also accessible in an alphabetical index found in the "MP3 Index" section. In that index, any of the files can be auditioned and/or copied to some location on your computer drives.

Similarly, the "MIDI Files" section has an alphabetical index to all the available midi songs. That index shows the song title, performer, keyboard, song tempo, and, if known, the style used. Unlike the web site, however, the USB does not contain zipped files -- all the midi files are unzipped and ready to be played or copied for playing on your Yamaha keyboard.

Christmas 2010 Jukebox. There were a lot of songs contributed to the 2010 Christmas jukebox. That jukebox, and all the songs, are on the CD and accessible through the Christmas tab.

Summary. Because online storage is limited, the MP3s currently online are those from the most recent year or two. Most of these earlier songs are no longer available online. However, they are available in this collection and easily found by using the alphabetical index or the jukeboxes. All MP3 song volumes have been standardized to a uniform listening level and given a standard naming format. If you enjoy listening to music and seeing and hearing how others perform their songs, this USB is for you! There are MP3 songs from 41 PSR Performers and midi files from 67 Performers. Any player can learn a lot from these songs and you certainly will have many, many hours of listening pleasure available to you. And, of course, if you have an iPod, this is a quick and economical way to add MP3s to your song library, and much more economical than paying $.99 per song from iTunes!
