Files in the Yamaha PSR-2100 play a critical role. Key information
used by the arranger keyboard are stored in files. A style
is a file. A set of 8 registration buttons is a file.
A MIDI song is a file. All of the paramaters that go into
making a voice sound like it does can be stored in a file.
The data in the Music Finder Database is a file. You get the
idea.
Since the Yamaha PSR-2000 includes a floppy
disk, these files can be moved from internal storage in the keyboard
to a floppy disk. Similarly, styles on a floppy disk can be
read into the PSR-2000. To get maximum benefit from your keyboard,
you need to understand the ins and outs of that floppy drive and
the files used in the system. We have four lessons to help you understand
the PSR-2000 file system.
File System.
While files on the floppy disk can be
read by the PSR, it may be confusing at first because you cannot
really see the full contents of a floppy from the PSR. This
lessons shows the relationship between files on a floppy and where
you see them in the PSR-2000.
File Operations
. This lesson covers, in detail
the various operations on files that you can perform from your PSR-2000.
Naming a File.
There will be many times when you
will want to provide a unique name for some file. This lesson
explains how to create file names from the PSR-2000.
Copying Files.
Here are step-by-step instructions on how
to copy one or more files from one floppy disk to another.
There are also instructions on how to duplicate an entire disk.
Downloading .
Everyone will want to know how to move a file down from the
internet to your computer so you can put it on a floppy disk and
move it to the PSR. This lesson help you understand how to
download files.
WinZip.
If you are going to download files from the internet, you will have
to learn how to use the WinZip program. Very often, files you want
will be in a "zipped" format. This compressed format allows
quicker download of files because the are smaller than the originals.
They also take up less storage space. But to use them you
need to "unzip" the file and get it back to its original format.
This lesson will show you how.
