Your PSR

The PSR-2100 Functions demo provides not only an audio demonstration of PSR capabilities, but also describes the main functions available in the arranger.  That information is repeated here for your convenience. (Note: the function descriptions are identical in the PSR-2000.)

Overall -- Here is the brand new PSR that shines in any application -- from live performances to music production.  It features a full range of advanced functions -- including easy operation with a large LCD display, high-quality voices, a wide variety of accompaniment styles, on-screen notation, and a song-creator for recording, plus a wealth of play-along / sing-along features that make it exceptionally fun to play.

Voices -- We've included for your playing enjoyment over 800 exceptionally high-quality dynamic voices -- including piano, strings, brass, & drums.  Thanks to Yamaha's sophisticated digital technologies, we've come up with new instrument sounds that deserve their own special voice group -- Sweet, Live and Cool.

Styles -- Enjoy the enormously wide variety of dynamic accompaniment styles -- from basic backing tracks to full complex professional arrangements, in virtually every style of music.  You can have only the rhythm sound, or you can have all accompaniment parts played automatically, including bass and chord backing, by playing the chords along with the rhythm.

Reverb/Effect -- Based on thorough acoustic research, Yamaha has developed state-of-the-art technology to recreate the sonic effect of various performance environments.  This means you can play the rich voices of the instrument in equally rich surroundings.  We've also included many effects to enhance the sound of specific voices, including a rotary speaker effect for jazz organ, and tremolo for electric piano.

Music Finder -- If you want to play in a specific music genre, you can instantly & automatically call up the most appropriate accompaniment style and the matching One-Touch Setting data, including the best-suited voices.  You can also add to this database yourself by registering your own settings.

Lyrics Display -- Try out the lyric display feature -- it shows the lyrics in the display as the lyric-compatible song data plays back.

Music Notation -- You can play back your own recordings as well as commercially available song data and have the notation automatically shown on the display -- in whatever size or zoom level you want.  This powerful feature not only lets you view the entire score, it shows where you are in the piece with the help of a moving cursor that follows along with playback.

Vocal Harmony -- Connect a microphone to the instrument and sing along with your favorite song.  For songs that contain harmony data, you can have automatic vocal harmony parts added to your singing and even if there is no harmony data, you can add vocal harmony by playing the chords or harmony part on the keyboard.

Sound Creator -- You can edit and customize any of the internal voices to your liking, then save them and call them up any time you want.

Style Creator -- Craft your own custom accompaniment styles to suit your own music by taking your favorite parts from existing preset accompaniment styles and combining them, or by playing your own original patterns and recording them.

Song Creator -- Record your own songs, using a variety of convenient easy-to-use methods.  You can record quickly and, or step record individual notes with the Song Creator.  You can use the auto accompaniment backing for the chords you enter, and even record lyrics as part of the song data.

Multi Pads -- The Multi Pads can be used to play various prerecorded rhythms and melodic phrases, letting you instantly and easily spice up your performance Simply press one of the multi pad buttons.  When using the style, you can play the pitched sounds so that they match whatever chord you are playing at the time.

Floppy Disk -- The instrument is compatible with a wide variety of popular song data formats, including the worldwide standard GM (General MIDI) as well as Yamaha's XG and XF (with lyrics data) software.  Virtually any data you've downloaded with your computer and saved to floppy disk can be easily played back on the instrument.  Moreover, you can easily store your own original song, registration, and voice data to floppy disk.

User Drive (Flash Memory) -- There's a wide variety of commercially available song and accompaniment style data and you can conveniently and easily store it in the User drive (internal flash memory) for instant use -- along with registration memory settings and voices you've created yourself.

Sound System -- The instrument also features a dynamic built-in sound system that faithfully and authentically reproduces all of the sound from the powerful lows to the crisp highs.
