As you "collect" styles, you may want to be aware of
the total collection of styles that may be available to you. With
each Yamaha arranger keyboard, the manual contains a listing of
all the styles that are available internally. The style list is
in order, so "style numbers" can also be derived from
that list. If you are shopping for a keyboard, you may want to know
what styles are in that keyboard versus others that you are considering.
The style lists provided here will help you with both problems.
Yamaha lists styles within a "Category." The Category
names are similar from keyboard to keyboard but not necessarily
identical in each keyboard. As a result, styles listed in one category
for one keyboard, may be listed in another category on another keyboard.
In addition, the format of the style name has also changed through
time. In the most recent keyboards, there are no spaces in a file
name as there were in earlier keyboards. For example, the PSR-9000
has a "Big Band Ballad" while the PSR-2100 has a "BigBandBallad."
Note: The fact that the names are the same, or at least similar,
does not mean that the style will necessarily be identical between
two keyboards. The styles in the PSR-3000 and Tyros (and subsequent
keyboards) use Mega voices and sound very different from the similarly-named
styles in earlier keyboards. Of course, a major change is that the
later keyboards include one-touch settings in the style -- a feature
not available in earlier keyboards. Click on any of the links shown
at left to see the style list for that keyboard family.
